When to go
April to November
Hacking is not very different from trekking, only the pace of riding is a bit more. This is a preferred route if you want to go higher on the mountains than the normal trekking routes. While moving along, you'll gain a lot of local knowledge and come across fascinating features and wildlife.
So, a hacking holiday offers you enough opportunities to feel the wilderness and mysticism of mountains while you are galloping fast on tough terrains. You'll face new challenges at the dramatic locations of Wales. This is good even for novices who are driven by the urge to experience something new.
Ellesmere Riding Centre
Horse riding is in our genes; we have been doing it for generations. Ideally located in the capital city of Wales, we are just an hour away by road. You get the ultimate riding experience and simultaneously enjoy stunning sceneries on trail-riding holidays. Our family manages 20 well-schooled horses and ponies. If you are willing to enjoy and explore the beautiful Welsh countryside on horseback, come to us. You'll have an unforgettable horse-riding experience.
There are two packages – half day and full day. Half-day packages are of 2 hours, which will take you along a circular route to stables. Trotting along quiet lanes before cantering across the mountainside will be an exhilarating experience.
A full-day package includes a 4-hour ride wherein you'll be travelling through the western parts of the Black Mountains, located in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. You'll stop for nearly 1 hour for lunch. No previous experience is required for hacking and you can learn fast in a short training session.
