When to go
April to September
This adventure takes place near Hathersage (Peak district), a popular traditional village. If you’re looking to develop your rock climbing skills so you can climb independently, then two action packed days at the crags nearby is a must.
On the first day you can expect your guide to meet you at 8.30am in Hathersage Cafe, where you'll discuss the day's plan. You'll then head out to the chosen climbing location to setup. Time to get climbing!
You will concentrate on the basic skills required to climb safely on outdoor crags, giving you the ability to climb independently, with a rope above you. You begin with guide book use and interpretation before looking at and practicing the placement of safety gear.
You will then explore best practice in setting up belays, utilizing your newly acquired gear placement skills and spend time practicing the rigging of these. By the end of day two you will be setting up your own belays at the top of the crag, attaching your rope to it and enjoying the climb you just rigged. A course pack with information on all of the learned skills and more is provided at the end of the course.
All in all this is a fantastic option because it’s very easy to organise and requires minimal kit or fitness. We recommend you first send the guide a booking request to agree a date. Then book your accommodation. Adventure sorted!

Where to stay
Geo is a highly competent climber in all aspect of rock and wall climbing. I cannot recommend Geo highly enough.
I have known Geo for around 25 years. We've climbed together and worked together on many occasions over this time. He has a thoughtful, analytical and technical approach to climbing which benefits his students very well.
I really enjoyed the course. I feel I have learnt a lot and feel much more confident. Excellent!
