If you are looking for a suitable rock climbing and scrambling course in Cumbria, More Than Mountains is the right choice for you. We have courses for different skill and experience levels.
Imagine you have climbed a hundred metres on a sheer rock cliff. Just below, you can see the valley dotted with crags, crisscrossed by gushing streams. You can hear the sounds of nature amid the peaceful Cumbrian mountains while sharp cliffs beckon, challenging you to climb them.
So We have designed a course just for you to surmount these tempting heights. Our instructors will guide you up to a classic route and they will tell impart every bit of knowledge required for a successful rock climbing.
If you are a novice, there is a specially designed course for you and you will really love it. However, in a multiday course, you’ll actually climb a variety of rock types. In the course, you’ll also learn the art of rescuing if someone is stuck or injured.

This course is for adults only. You’ll not be charged extra for the climbing equipment.

How to get there
You can reach Abergavenny on the Cardiff-Manchester line by boarding hourly trains. The place is well-connected with all major cities.
Cumbria is well-connected with all major cities in the UK. It is easily reachable by road and public transport is available.
We had a really great one-day bespoke navigation course (for two people) with Jill from More than Mountains. I wanted something with some beginner learning but that also included more advanced navigation techniques to help us on mountain days.
