This adventure takes place near Llanberis (Wales), a stunning lakeside village at the at the foot of Snowdon, surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers. If you’re looking for an amazing day out, then an ascent of Snowdon is a must and a great stepping stone for planning your own future adventures.

On the day you can expect your guide to meet you at Pete's Eat cafe in Llanberis at 8.00am. You will then take the bus to the start point by Pen-y-Pass. From there you will set off to ascend Snowdon, via the famous Pyg track used by Everest mountaineers for their training. Along the way you’ll have the opportunity to learn some basic map and compass work, the old school 'proper' way of navigating!

In peak season the guide also knows a beautiful circular route from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon via Foel Goch and Derlwyn, which for almost all of its length is away from the crowds (this can be decided on the day).

All in all this is a fantastic option because it’s very easy to organize and it will give you the skills needed to plan your own future adventures. We recommend you first contact the guide to agree a date, then book your accommodation. Adventure sorted!

Brendan Hanley

Brendan Hanley is a passionate Mountain Leader with experience leading groups on adventures around the country. As a teenager he fell in love with the outdoors whilst climbing Snowdon on a blustery summer day in 1977. With trips to the Alps, Iceland and all over the UK, his love for the mountains has only grown and his ambition is to help others experience the incredible peace the outdoors can offer. He's not into achieving arbitrary targets for speed or distance, bagging summits, or "conquering" routes or mountains, instead enjoying simply being in touch with the majesty and beauty of the landscape and the weather and the sky above, and having a trip in harmony as much as possible with the mountains. Brendan is especially good at working with people who are a bit unsure of themselves in the mountain environment and need some gentle support and guidance.
