When to go
Mid-February to September (excluding Sundays)
This adventure takes place on the River Spey, probably the most famous salmon & sea trout fishing river in the world, located in the North East of Scotland. This is the perfect activity for those seeking to develop their fly-fishing technique, with one-to-one tuition in the beautiful surroundings of the Highlands. All kit is provided, so all you need is a sense of adventure.
On the day you can expect your guide to meet you at 9.30am at the salmon fishing beat location. You'll be instructed on use of the kit and then it's straight into the fishing.
You'll receive hands on tuition on all aspects of fly-fishing, including Spey casting with a double handed salmon fly rod, hooking a salmon on the fly and how to read a salmon pool. There is nothing quite like being immersed in the flow of the river and the focus of hooking your salmon, a truly meditative experience.
A typical day sees you break at lunch for an hour before resuming until 5.30pm. You'll hopefully have some tales of great battles fought to tell in the bar that night!
All in all this is a fantastic option because it’s very easy to organise. All the fishing permits and technical kit are sorted for you, so you just have to turn up with a minimum of kit and a sense of adventure.
To book this adventure you need to pay upfront as this is in high demand. The guide will then be in touch to confirm the date, beat location and suggest local accommodation. To guarantee your chosen date please try and book 90 days or more in advance.
